Poetry Plus

We meet on the third Friday and two members each select a poem. The others are told what these are and can read them in advance. Each of the “selectors” at that meeting talks briefly about the poem, poet or the background and reads the poem. The whole group then discusses it.

For example, in October 2024, the group discussed The Village Inn by John Betjeman and Don't miss out! Book now! for the journey of a lifetime! by Imtiaz Dharker. The following month, the meeting followed a slightly different format when members discussed Emily Dickinson, her life and poems, after one of the members gave a presentation to the others on his recent trip to her birthplace and museum.
