Bruce was Principal Teacher of History at Linlithgow Academy for over 30 years.

For 8 years Principal Examiner in History for Scotland;
author of some 16 books- school texts and local history mostly.

Regular presenter and compere all over the Lowlands;

After Dinner and Burns Supper speaker;

used to operate a Ghost Tour Company;

Honorary Lecturer at the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh,

former Provost of the Linlithgow Deacons’ Court.
