Bet Low Heritage Walk, Glasgow

This walk led by Hildegard Berwick covers sites associated with the Glasgow artist Bet Low.

Start point: 350 Sauchiehall Street at corner of the CCA building, looking up towards Glasgow School of Art. Duration - c.1 hour 40 minutes plus questions.

The walk will be at a moderate pace along Sauchiehall Street and up to Blythswood Square and back on to Sauchiehall Street ending at the building which housed Bet Low's New Charing Cross Gallery (next to the red sandstone former Locarno ballroom, now a casino).

The walk will take in arts buildings that have associations with Bet's career, including Glasgow School of Art, the Third Eye Centre (now the CCA) and the McLellan Galleries in Sauchiehall Street, as well as the former Glasgow Society of Lady Artists' Club at 5 Blythswood Square and the New Art Club founded by JD Fergusson in 1940 located at 299 West George Street looking onto Blythswood Square.

Please note that attendees will be on their feet for the full duration of the walk. Please wear comfortable shoes, dress appropriately for the weather and note that some pavement surfaces may be uneven.
